To my Fibromyalgia clients:
Through out some reading I have been doing I have found that HOT STONE massage is the most effective massage for Fibromyalgia sufferers.
The hot and cold sensations that you receive in hot stone massage is proven to loosen muscles, increase blood flow and decrease pain. There is a lot of information out there for massage and Fibromyalgia.
I have had an increased clientele with Fibromyalgia. I wanted to know if there is something more I should be doing for these clients, only to find out that hot stone is the best pain relief.
Massage therapy works on the central nervous system. By enhancing the production of the natural pain relievers in the body such as: endorphin production, serotonin, and norepinephrine.
There was a study done in 1996, 2002 and 2003 for Fibromyalgia sufferers, this is what they found... decrease in anxiety, decreased depression symptoms, and some at home-self massage shown proven theory that massage therapy does in need help out these clients.
I want to help everyone. But it takes time and research to find out the needs and the wants for each individual and thier disease or position in life. I do not want to leave anyone out when it comes to massage therapy.
